Electronmicroscopic Observation of Chloroplast in Variegated leaf Mutants of Korean Native cymbidium goeringii

Abstract
The normal green leaf and the variegated leaf such as the yellowish green and the green - margined leaf of Korean native Cymbidium goeringii were used as experimental materials. Micro-structural characteristics of chloroplast in cells of those leaves were observed through electronmicroscope.
In the chloroplast of normal green leaf, well-developed gram stack, stroma thylakoid, and a few plastoglobuli were observed. In the yellowish green leaf, gram stack was underdeveloped rather than normal leaf, stroma thylakoid was occupying the most portion of the chloroplast, plastoglobuli were several times more than the normal leaf and no vesiculation occurred. In the green - margined leaf, grana stack was abnormal, the distinction of stroma thylakoid stack was obscure, plastoglobuli were abundantly contained and somewhat excessive vesiculation was shown. In the albino leaf, gram stack was not developed absolutely, stroma thylakoid was very poorly developed, plastoglobuli were contained dozen times more than the normal leaf and chloroplast was extremely vesiculated.
